The new chairperson of the Erongo Regional Council said he will tackle disunity among councillors during his term.
The Walvis Bay Rural Councillor Donatus Tegako was elected on Tuesday.
IPC's Tegako replaced Swapo Party's and Arandis Councillor Benita Imbamba after a vote of no confidence was expressed in her leadership for allegedly sowing division in council.
Imbamba denied the claims in a local newspaper and added that the motion had no legal foundation and was an attempt to discredit her leadership.
"Division in Erongo started two years back; it's not a today thing, and I'm saying I'm ready to tackle it hands-on because people are divided along political lines. I'm going to give support to each and every regional councillor and bring them to the table and ensure that we have championed service delivery to our people."
During his maiden media conference on Wednesday, Tegako stressed that he will make sure all outstanding developmental projects are implemented.
Tegako emphasised the need for teamwork, communication and collaboration.
Such elements, he said, will play a role in addressing the challenges of the region, which include unemployment, poor infrastructure and the needs of the marginalised communities.
