Learners from the coastal town of Swakopmund took to the streets today as part of the nationwide mass march against violence towards Children, expressing fear and demanding urgent action in the wake of recent brutal killings.

Many learners said they are now afraid to go to school following the tragic deaths of Ingrid Maasdorp (5), Roswinds Fabian (6), and Beyoncé !Kharuxas (15) in Okahandja over the past month. The violent loss of these young lives has sent shockwaves across the country and plunged communities into mourning.

Carrying signs and chanting messages of justice, Swakopmund learners marched in solidarity with their peers across Namibia, calling for stronger protection of children’s rights and an end to all forms of violence.

The march is part of a national awareness initiative led by the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture to confront child abuse and ensure the safety of every learner in Namibia.
