Armstrong Properties, the developers of Hilka Park in Rundu, say a demonstration carried out by some homeowners on May 2nd has damaged their company’s reputation.

Various homeowners took to the streets of the Kavango East regional capital to protest against poor service delivery by Armstrong Properties and other stakeholders.

They said the residential area has a myriad of problems, including a lack of proper roads, poorly constructed houses, constant power outages, sewer leaks, and a malfunctioning drainage system, among many other concerns.

The Hilka Park homeowners claim that their complaints have been ignored for years, and the protest was their attempt to make their voices heard.

The homeowners handed over petitions to Armstrong Properties, the commercial banks responsible for approving and providing mortgages, and the Rundu Town Council for allegedly failing to enforce certain building regulations.

In a letter addressed to the media, the Managing Director of Armstrong Properties, Matheus Hungamo, denied any wrongdoing.

As far as Armstrong Properties is concerned, the office has not received a single complaint.

Armstrong Properties also states that there is nothing wrong with Hilka Park’s sewerage system and blames the residents for using the sewer system improperly.

Hungamo believes the roads in Hilka Park are superior to many other roads in Rundu and attributes the damage to rain.

Armstrong Properties also said they are going to consult their lawyers regarding the reputational damage that the demonstration has caused.

The residents, on the other hand, say they are not going to give up and want their various demands to be met.
