The Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA), with other national border agencies, is in Livingstone, Zambia, for joint technical committee meetings to establish a one-stop border post.
The One Stop Border Facility is expected to significantly ease customs clearance procedures.
Other than NamRA, the high-level joint technical committee includes the Roads Authority, Roads Fund Administration, Namibia Agronomic Board, Zambezi Regional Council, and other key ministries.
Officially opening the engagements in Livingstone, Zambia, today, Commissioner for NamRA Sam Shivute spoke on behalf of the Namibian delegation.
For the Zambian delegation, Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry Permanent Secretary Lillian Bwalya underscored the urgency of this project.
Key priorities identified include financial mobilisation and technical resources, among others.
Once completed, the one-stop border post will reduce congestion of commercial traffic at the Katima Mulilo border that separates these two countries.
