The Office of the ||Kharas Governor handed over gardening equipment and seeds to identified rural community gardening initiatives in the region. The equipment and seeds were donated by Mefuta Enterprises.
The gardening projects at Aroab, Berseba, and Snyfontein are designed to provide sustainable food sources and create opportunities for economic empowerment within rural communities.
"This act of kindness reflects a deep understanding of the importance of sustainable development and the positive impact it has on the lives of our people; as this donation will directly contribute to addressing the unemployment gap and combating hunger and poverty within these communities. Your commitment to corporate social responsibility sets a commendable example for other businesses in the region and beyond," said Governor Aletha Frederick.
Silas Iipumbu is the Chairperson of Mefuta Enterprise.
"The agricultural tools will empower farmers to work more efficiently and effectively, the shade nets will offer vital protection against the scorching sun, helping to improve crop yields and quality, and the seeds carefully selected for their suitability to the local climate will provide the foundation for a bountiful harvest. This donation is more than just a symbolic gesture; it is a tangible investment in the future of the ||Kharas Region, an investment in the hard work and dedication of its people."
Beneficiaries were urged to ensure that the equipment and seeds are effectively utilised to establish flourishing and lasting gardens. Felicia Motinga spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries.
"We are very happy standing here today and receiving the donations on behalf of our people, and we accept the donations wholeheartedly. We will use them for the meaning of the wellbeing of our communities."
