Rehoboth hosted the Root 77 Market Day, meant to serve as a platform for entrepreneurs to showcase their products and uplift the town's rich cultural potential, with a special focus on the enduring heritage of the Nama and Rehoboth Baster communities.

Root 77 Market Day is a pop-up market that happens a few times during the year, where local vendors compete by selling homemade products, confectionery, fruit preserves, biltong, crafts, vegetables, plants and more.

Hardap Governor Riaan McNab described this competition as more than just about food but also about shared heritage, the joy of creation, and communities coming together.

"Today's Root 77 Market is more than just a gathering; it's a powerful testament to the strength of community, the vibrancy of culture, and the spirit of entrepreneurship that thrives in Rehoboth. Events like this play a crucial role in fostering unity, understanding, and pride in our heritage. They provide platforms for our artists to shine, our chefs to showcase their talents, and our communities to connect and celebrate who we are."

The winners of the Potjiekos competition were Ple Baster Boerpampoene in first place, walking away with N$3,000; FNB Acacia Span in second place, winning N$2,000; and De Die Vla-meester in third place, who won N$1,500.
