The Ratepayers Association will join residents in a demonstration on 28 July at the Katutura Customer Care Centre of the City of Windhoek.

Their civic action aims to address ongoing grievances with third-party debt collector Red Force, its billing system, and the municipality's internal reports.

The association states that the demonstration will focus on demanding accountability from the municipality, rather than simply handing over a petition.

Ordinary Namibians, they say, continue to suffer because of a defective system that charges some residents exorbitant amounts that they cannot afford.

They further demanded the release of 'the Deloitte Report', which they argue points to problems with the City of Windhoek's billing system, in effect causing escalating debts.

The association further demands the non-renewal of Red Force's contract with the municipality after its due expiry this month.

The association called on Namibian Police Inspector General Joseph Shikongo to intervene in a case they opened against the City of Windhoek's Department of Rates and Taxes, suggesting dishonesty in its continued use of the faulty system.
