Thirteen individuals and entities are facing a growing list of charges in connection with the multi-million-dollar NAMCOR corruption scandal. NBC News has reliably learned that more charges are imminent, with additional suspects expected to be arrested.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has charged the accused under various provisions of the Anti-Corruption Act and the Prevention of Organised Crime Act. The charges include corruptly accepting gratification, using office or position for gratification, conspiracy to commit corruption, racketeering, disguising the unlawful origin of property, acquisition and possession of proceeds of unlawful activities, and using false documents.
Those charged include former NAMCOR Managing Director Immanuel Mulunga, along with Cornelius Willemse, Jennifer Hamukwaya, Olivia Dunaiski, Peter Hango Elindi, Malakia Elindi, Lydia Elindi, and Panduleni Hamukwaya.
Also charged are corporate entities Enercon Namibia (Pty) Ltd, Onyeka Clearing and Forwarding CC, Nyambali Medical Centre CC, Panduleni Farming CC, and Parkwood Petroleum Logistics CC.
According to sources close to the investigations, the charges stem from a complex network of alleged illicit transactions, abuse of public office, and coordinated attempts to launder and conceal the origins of unlawfully acquired funds.
Sources have also confirmed that the case is far from closed and that prosecutors are preparing to bring additional individuals before the court.
