Stakeholders and residents in the Omaheke Region have welcomed the proposed changes to the Motor Vehicle Accidents Fund Act of 2007. Participants say the amendments come at a crucial time, as many people continue to face financial pressure.

Speaking at the one-day consultative workshop for the proposed amendments to the MVA Fund Act, 2007, held at Gobabis, Arnold Molapisi stressed that it is vital to amend the existing Act, as a lot has changed economically, and hence, the Act presents outdated provisions.

A farmer from the Otjombinde constituency, Ripuree Nandova, appreciated the consultation extended to the communities, adding that such Consultations instill a sense of ownership.

Chief Legal Adviser at the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund, Joelynn Kurz, pointed out that the world is evolving; hence, it is of paramount importance for the Fund to engage members to see where changes are required on the existing.

The Chairperson of the Law Reform and Development Commission, Etuna Josua, also engaged the stakeholders.

The Omaheke Regional Council Chairperson, Pecka Semba, appealed to community members to continue participating in consultative sessions.
