President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has urged former liberation movements in Southern Africa to resist external threats that undermine their independence and the gains they have made.
She called for different approaches in light of the complex and unprecedented challenges facing the region, including socio-economic inequalities.
“The Swapo Party calls for strategic unity among sister parties who have played a significant role in the liberation of Southern Africa. We must confront the rise of foreign-funded civil society organisations, NGOs, and economic warfare through sanctions and unjustified tariffs with a unified front. We must share strategies on confronting the calls for regime change in our respective countries by some foreign forces through opposition parties and civil society,” said President Nandi-Ndaitwah.
She added, “This Summit must forge cohesive strategies for coordinated migration management, equitable socio-economic development, and the protection of our natural resources. We need to commit to building international alliances to amplify our voice and resist exploitation, while remaining true to the principles of human rights, peaceful conflict resolution, and multilateralism. Comrades, the time for revolutionary renewal is now!”
