The Mineworkers Union has officially launched its Member Benefit Application in partnership with the digital platform MyGateway.
The application enables members to access discounts at select retail stores across the country.
The announcement came at the second ||Karas Regional Roundtable discussion, held at Oranjemund last week.
The Acting President of the Mineworkers Union, Poko-Key Mberiruana, highlighted the importance of continuous engagements between regional counterparts.
He said the gathering reaffirmed the union's deep commitment to listening to its members' concerns and creating a meaningful platform for dialogue.
Among the announcements made at the event was the introduction of a retirement incentive benefit, which will be in effect as of the first of August.
To qualify, members must have a minimum of five years of consecutive membership, be at least 60 years old, and retire through the normal retirement channels.
The Mineworkers Union, in collaboration with the Namibia Miners Investment Trust, also offers funeral benefits valued at ten thousand dollars, paid out to the affected member's family in the event of their passing.
Namit has paid out over one million dollars in funeral coverage to date.
General Secretary at the Mineworkers Union, George Ampweya, said these initiatives are a fulfilment of the union's 2010 Congress Resolution, which was aimed at recognising and rewarding long-serving members for their commitment and contribution to the union.
