The San community at Ndoro Memorial, Omega 3 in the Zambezi Region, are unhappy with the selection and appointment of the school's hostel staff.

Some of those who applied for 12 positions advertised by the Ministry of Education say although they are qualified, they were left out.

One of the applicants, Jacob Anderson, said the community has been missing out on opportunities they ought to have benefited from.

Anderson is concerned about how the future of his children will be if he is denied the opportunity for employment.

"Government projects are initiated in our area, but we cannot benefit from them. How then are we going to reach Vision 2030? I have the qualifications; I applied, but I am not considered in the recruitment process."

Learners at Ndoro Memorial School are also concerned about difficulties they deal with on a daily basis, such as walking long distances to school and an empty stomach, which makes it difficult to concentrate in class.

They are also concerned that they have to wait for the hostel to open for nine years.

The hostel was supposed to open in two weeks, but due to unhappiness around recruitment, the community refused.

The school principal of Linus Sipopo told NBC News that the matter is being handled by the education directorate.
