Swakop Uranium workers are at loggerheads with the company over benefits under the continuous operation shift arrangement.
The company is exempt from the labour law that allows workers to operate 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.
The exemption, however, expired a week ago, and the employees have been working from Monday to Friday and not at weekends.
The parties have reached a deadlock because the workers are demanding improved benefits under the arrangement.
Among other demands, the workers want at least 14 hours of overtime per week compared to 13 hours now.
The company, in a statement, indicated that Swakop Uranium offers a highly competitive continuous operations package in the mining industry.
According to the company, the package includes free transportation, 7 off days per month, and a monthly shift allowance as well as overtime.
CEO Luo Wei received the workers' petition at Swakopmund.
