Preparations are well on track for the 35th Heroes Day commemoration, which will be hosted in the Zambezi Region.

As the Zambezi Region prepares to host this historic national event, the spotlight will focus not only on honouring Namibia's heroes but also on showcasing the region's ability to unite the nation in remembrance and reflection.

Over 20,000 people are expected to attend the Heroes Day event, which will be commemorated at the Katima Mulilo Sports Complex.

The Interim Executive Director in the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, Linda Aipinge-Nakale, said logistical arrangements have been made to ensure that everyone follows the event.

"We're finalising the list in terms of the pick-up points for those that will be here physically, and for those that will not be here physically, arrangements have been made for live streaming on NBC and all our social media platforms, so that is how ready we are. As you can see in the background, the tent is up, and on the other side, you also see the colleagues that are there , so we are ready come the 26th for us to be able to host anyone that is coming here."

She added that successfully hosting a national event such as this requires coordinated effort from all stakeholders.

"I think there are no major challenges at this moment because we started our preparations on time, and we are having daily meetings where we correct whatever needs to be corrected, so I can say we are quite right on track in terms of preparations. So whatever comes up, we deal with that hands-on."

The media witnessed rehearsals of what the actual day would look like.

The day will be commemorated under the theme "Built on Bravery, Bound for a Prosperous Future".
