Employees of the Northern Regional Electricity Distributor (NORED) in Katima, Mulilo, have joined others across the country in expressing dissatisfaction with how labour issues are handled by management.

The employees raised concerns about what they called "broken commitments" regarding a promised 6% wage increment that has not been honoured, a lack of market-related salaries, insufficient safety protocols, a negligent attitude towards safety, and other labour matters.

NORED employees are demanding the immediate implementation of the promised salary increase, a comprehensive review and adjustment of salaries, and the immediate strengthening of occupational health and safety protocols.

They also demand a clear demonstration of management's commitment to prioritising and respecting labour relations.

Their petition was received by Sylvester Chaka, NORED Regional Manager for Zambezi, who has promised to deliver it to NORED management.
