The President of Mozambique, Daniel Chapo, has offered Zambia natural gas to help the country resolve its energy crisis following low water levels at its hydro source.
Chopo has further agreed with his Zambian counterpart to build a pipeline for a gas and power generation plant with transmission lines connecting the two countries.
Chapo was in Zambia for a 2-day official visit at the invitation of his Zambian counterpart, Hakainde Hichilema.
He was also a special guest as Zambia celebrated its 61st independence on Friday.
He held a number of engagements, including one with chambers of commerce.
Speaking through an interpreter, Chapo highlighted some of the deals that were sealed during his visit.
"We spoke of energy, to add quantity and quality to energy connectivity to Zambia."
Other agreements relate to agriculture and tourism.
For President Hichilema, these collaborations are a game changer for the region.
"We agreed that we will work together on the transport corridors, the central corridors we call them: the Tanzania-Zambia Railways corridor, the Lubito corridor, and the Walvis Bay corridor, and we are ambitious," remarked Hichilema.
