President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has joined other world leaders in Belém, Brazil, for the climate summit that marks the start of the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30).

The Climate Summit, convened by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, takes place on 6 and 7 November, aiming to accelerate global climate adaptation action.

President Nandi Ndaitwah will also hold bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit.

The President has been a vocal advocate on climate change, emphasising Namibia's severe vulnerability to its impacts, such as recurring droughts, water scarcity, and extreme weather events, often stressing the urgent need for global and multilateral action to mitigate climate change.

COP30, which runs until 21 November, also marks 10 years since the adoption of the Paris Agreement, during which the commitments made under it will be reviewed.
