NamWater is owed a total of N$2.8 billion by various entities, an amount that poses a serious risk to national water security.

It is, therefore, urgently calling on local authorities, government institutions, industries and all consumers to settle their accounts.

Town Councils owe NamWater N$926 million, Rural Water Communities N$783 million, Private Consumers N$342 million, while municipalities, mines and village councils owe N$253 million, N$166 million and N$169 million, respectively.

While industry, irrigation, regional councils, ministries and others owe a sum of N$182 million.

NamWater urges consumers that continuous non-payment of water bills poses a direct threat to national water security, and they may necessitate stricter debt recovery measures to safeguard supply.
