The Namibia Karate Federation says it remains hopeful that the sport could return to the Olympic programme in future, pending changes to international protocols. This was revealed by Geneva De Jager, Public Relations Officer of the Namibia Karate Federation, who said that although the sport is currently not part of the Olympic lineup, discussions and adjustments at international level could allow for its reinstatement.
De Jager said a return to the global multi-sport event would provide a major boost for local athletes by creating more opportunities to compete at the highest level. Looking ahead to 2026, she said the federation plans to strengthen its structures by securing long-term sponsorships, improving coaching programmes, and further developing and diversifying the referee system.

According to De Jager, these priorities are important to ensure sustainable growth and readiness should the sport regain its place on the world stage. She added that continued investment in technical officials and coaching capacity would position Namibia to compete effectively at continental and international level if the opportunity arises.
