Court proceedings in the Rehoboth drug case continued on Friday.

One of the co-accused of Naomi Fisch, Menschel Beukes, testified in favour of Fisch and said he wants justice for her.

Thirty-three-year-old Menschel Beukes testified that he was responsible for the drugs that led to the arrest of two individuals facing charges of dealing in drugs and money laundering.

Beukes, a father of six, said he bought cannabis and half a Mandrax tablet on the day of the arrest in December last year.

He told the court that while he was at the tuck shop owned by his co-accused, Naomi Fisch and Steven Schneider, he explained that he panicked when he saw the police and discarded the drugs in an open space outside Fisch's yard.

Beukes said the police linked his substances to Fisch and Schneider, resulting in their arrest and charges.

He told the court that the drugs did not belong to the couple and that he is testifying so Fisch can enjoy justice.

Menschel Beukes confirmed that he uses drugs and plans to plead guilty to possession.

Beukes disputed the value of the dagga, saying he purchased it for N$600, not the N$10,000 stated by the prosecution.

State prosecutor Frank Tjibeba questioned Beukes' credibility, asking if the court can take his testimony into confidence after he admitted to being a drug addict. He said this is but an opinion of the prosecutor.

Beukes denied being part of a drug empire, which prosecutor Tjibeba alleged is run by Fisch, he said he does not receive any salary from Naomi Fisch.

Earlier, Beukes' mother told NBC News she did not want her son granted bail, stating that while he had taken the blame for others, he should face consequences for his own actions.

The bail hearing continues on Monday, where the State is expected to lead its case and call the investigating officer.
