The Director of Education in the Kavango West Region, Pontianus Musore, has said that the registration of learners for the 2026 academic year has been smooth.

Musore highlighted that the Ministry has also made provision to provide a conducive teaching environment.

“We are monitoring the process. Our inspectors are on the ground listening to what the challenges are that the parents and the community in general are facing. We are also ensuring that the resources needed are provided to schools. We have stationery that was already delivered at circuit offices so that schools can access them easily, including the textbooks that we ordered.”

Musore explained that the directorate has done its part to ensure a smooth teaching and learning process by decongesting classrooms and supplying chairs and desks.

“We have ordered chairs that were delivered towards the end of the year to our schools. We have also come up with a project of fixing chairs, which is ongoing, and those that were completed have been delivered, but there are still some that the service providers are busy fixing. We will deliver them to schools as soon as they are finished. There might be some challenges due to the increase in learners in terms of furniture, but generally, those that we have ordered, we have received. We have new orders that we are still waiting for this academic year; as soon as the service providers are done, we will also deliver them to our schools.”

Musore added that the region has made provision to ensure that learners do not stay home due to distance or financial constraints.

“The basic facilities are provided. There is no reason for schools to demand payments from these learners who are vulnerable, and it has been like that; there are exemptions that were made for those learners from these contributions. That's why the government spends money on providing these resources that may be needed by the schools.”

The learners are also provided with transportation to the hostels when schools open during the weekends and holidays.

Musore’s wish is to see schools provide quality education and learners get good grades.

He reminded school principals that no learner should miss classes because of non-payment of voluntary contributions.
