The Presidency has dismissed reports suggesting that certain ambassadorial appointments and redeployments were conducted in secrecy, describing such claims as misplaced and incorrect.
The Presidency, in a statement, explained that in line with established diplomatic practice, Heads of Mission are commissioned once and may be redeployed to different postings, either directly or after completing the necessary administrative processes at home.
It noted that diplomatic procedures, including the receipt of formal consent and the presentation of Letters of Credence, vary from one host country to another.
As a result, while some Heads of Mission have already presented their Letters of Credence, others are still in the process of completing these formalities.
It was therefore appropriate to make a collective announcement once the process was complete.
The Presidency further noted that several Heads of Mission have already publicly shared their diplomatic engagements, including the presentation of their Letters of Credence, through official channels and social media platforms.
This, the Presidency notes, demonstrates the routine and transparent nature of these deployments and underscores that there was no intention to conceal or withhold information.
The statement reiterated that any suggestion that such visible diplomatic engagements could be kept "under wraps" is inconsistent with normal international diplomatic practice, dismissing that the redeployments were conducted in secrecy.
