Former parliamentarian Patience Masua has been appointed as the interim executive chairperson of the National Youth Council (NYC).
According to a statement on NYC's social media platforms recently, Masua, who has been serving as an interim board member, was appointed by Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts, and Culture, Sanet Steenkamp, following the resignation of Kennedy Kariseb in December last year.
The statement said the appointment is aimed at ensuring continuity, stability, and effective leadership at the National Youth Council during the interim period.
Masua was formally introduced to NYC staff members on Friday by Director of Youth in the ministry, Nicolas Tembwe.
The statement said the council is confident that Masua's experience in public service and youth development would add value to the organisation during the critical transition.
