The Erongo Governor has called on newly inducted Regional Councillors to embrace ethical, informed, and collective leadership as they begin their term of office, saying the region stands at a decisive moment in its governance journey.

Nathalia |Goagoses made this call during the internal induction ceremony of seven councillors at Swakopmund today.

|Goagoses said the programme brings together newly entrusted political leadership and the professional administration responsible for day-to-day service delivery, making it essential for both sides to align before the work ahead intensifies.

She reminded the councillors that the regional councils are the level of government closest to the people and carry a unique responsibility to respond to community needs.

She described the induction as a governance checkpoint, aimed at strengthening understanding of policy framework, institutional processes, and sectoral coordination.

The governor also stressed the importance of a balanced relationship between political leadership and administration, warning that poor coordination weakens institutions and affects them.

"We are elected by the people of the Erongo Region to be their political leaders; therefore, you appoint the professionals to execute the law firm resolutions and never attend to an individual counsellor or go to the financial advisor to approve SNT. You are mandated your conditional services; you don't need to go and nag around the administrators."

Also speaking at the event was the Chairperson of the Erongo Regional Council, Lazarus Kanelombe.

"Let us use this induction to establish a culture of understanding, cooperation, professionalism, and unity. The communities we serve may never witness our internal deliberations, but they will certainly feel the outcomes of how well we work together. We need to build trust and earn the confidence of the masses we are elected to represent."
