President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah opened the first Cabinet meeting with a call for the executive to remain firm and bold in its commitment to service delivery.
She said no challenge is insurmountable and that, as leaders entrusted with the affairs of the state, they are expected to lead by example.
President Nandi-Ndaitwah says the new year offers another opportunity for the Cabinet to fulfil the promises made to Namibians through the 2025-2030 Swapo Party election manifesto and its implementation plan.
The President told them that the responsibility to effectively deliver services rests on the shoulders of leaders and urged the Cabinet not to fail in execution.
"Wherever we go, whether in our official or personal capacities, we are seen and judged as leaders. We must maintain a listening ear and a watchful eye, remaining closely attuned to the realities faced by our people on the ground. Our leadership must be guided by empathy and a deep understanding of the lived experiences of the Namibian people."
The Head of State stressed the urgency of time in the execution of tasks, with a reminder that only four years remain of the five-year mandate entrusted to the Eighth Administration to advance and realise Vision 2030.
"Time is, therefore, not on our side. Every day, every hour, and every decision must count. We must utilise time prudently and decisively in pursuit of results-based, effective service delivery by implementing all our decisions."
Namibia's Cabinet is also resuming at a time of changing geopolitics, including shifting alliances, economic instability and what the President describes as the selective enforcement of global standards.
In this regard, she urged the upholding of Namibia's principles.
These include respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, equality among nations, the peaceful resolution of conflicts through dialogue, and adherence to international law.
"The shift in the global order also challenges many of the assumptions that many nations have relied on. Within this context, the call for 'Business Unusual' becomes not only relevant but also urgent. In fact, Business Unusual is happening worldwide. Our ways of thinking, planning, and acting can no longer stay the same."
