The City of Windhoek (CoW) has ordered the immediate recall of Nestlé NAN Special Pro HA infant formula (0-12 months) countrywide after it was declared unfit for human consumption.
The recall follows a MoHSS January 13 directive for retailers in Windhoek to remove the product from shelves with immediate effect.

The affected product is Nestlé NAN Special Pro HA, 800 g, batch number 51600742FA, manufactured on 15 June 2025, with a best-before date of 15 December 2026.

Parents and caregivers are advised to stop using the formula immediately, return it to the place of purchase, and monitor infants for symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea, or unusual tiredness.

Medical attention should be sought if symptoms occur.
The recall is due to the possible presence of cereulide, a toxin produced by Bacillus cereus, which poses a serious food safety risk.
