TransNamib has confirmed the temporary suspension of two senior executives amid an internal investigation.

In a media statement issued, TransNamib said the matter is internal and that an investigation is currently underway.

“TransNamib confirms that two executives have been temporarily suspended. The matter is internal, and an investigation is currently underway,” the company said.

TransNamib did not name the executives in the statement and said full details could not be disclosed at this stage because the process is confidential.

However, information available indicates the suspended executives are Webster Gonzo (Executive: Human Capital) and Alynsia Platt (Executive: Properties).

Despite the suspensions, TransNamib said it remains fully operational and committed to providing safe and reliable rail services.

The suspension comes against the backdrop of previous concerns raised about governance and executive conduct at the company.

In 2023, a board-commissioned independent investigation by Ernst & Young recommended disciplinary action against certain TransNamib executives, including Gonzo and Platt, in connection with alleged irregularities involving bonus payments and lease agreements.

In late 2024, the Namibia Transport and Allied Workers Union (NATAU) petitioned against his reappointment, alleging mismanagement and irregular human resources practices. TransNamib dismissed those claims as baseless at the time.

TransNamib has not revealed the duration of the suspensions or the charges against the executives, merely stating that the investigation is still in progress.

The company has not disclosed a connection between the suspensions and previous allegations from earlier investigations.
