Press Freedom Day 2024 highlights environmental journalism's vital role

To achieve sustainable development, it is necessary for journalists to report accurately, timely, and comprehensively on environmental issues and their consequences, as well as on possible solutions.

It is against this background that this year's Press Freedom Day will be celebrated under the theme "A Press for the Planet: Journalism in the Face of the Environmental Crisis."

RA CEO expresses discontent over delayed Engoyi-Omuntele road upgrade

The Roads Authority (RA) Chief Executive Officer is not impressed with the slow progress on the Engoyi-Omuntele road upgrade.

The road construction commenced in October last year and was to be completed by September this year.

On a site visit to the project, Conrad Lutombi said the project is behind schedule by two and a half months.

N$20 million was supposed to be spent so far on the project, but to date, the contractor has only used N$5 million.

Police announce key promotions to enhance quality policing services

A range of promotions have been announced by the Namibian Police.

Police Inspector General Joseph Shikongo made the announcement in Windhoek on Wednesday, elevating several senior officers to higher ranks and assigning them to key positions. 

These promotions come with added responsibilities and are aimed at ensuring quality policing services for the people of Namibia.

One of the notable promotions is that of Deputy Commissioner Petrus Swartz, who has been promoted to the rank of Commissioner and appointed as the head of the Traffic Law Enforcement Directorate.
