Namibia has been selected to host the new headquarters of the Global Water Partnership (GWP), following a decision previously approved by the organisation’s board.

The announcement, which was made earlier and reaffirmed during a recent meeting, was highlighted on the margins of the 39th Ordinary Summit of the African Union, where GWP Steering Committee Chairperson Pablo Berciartua and President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah held a courtesy meeting.

Berciartua expressed appreciation for Namibia’s commitment to the Global Water Partnership and confirmed that the decision to establish the headquarters in Windhoek received unanimous support from the organisation’s board.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah is happy with the development, highlighting the critical importance of water security both in Namibia and globally.

She pointed out that Namibia joined the initiative to contribute to global water management efforts while also benefiting from international cooperation in the sector.
