Erongo Governor Nathalia |Goagoses says the region continues to lead in several areas of service delivery, particularly through community-driven development.
|Goagoses highlighted major service delivery achievements and acknowledged ongoing challenges during a strategic meeting in Swakopmund.
She praised the Regional Development Coordinating Committee for ensuring that projects such as clinics, schools, and infrastructure are identified at the grassroots level and submitted to the central government through the proper channels.
“I have reviewed the 2024/2025 reports from the various sectors and delegated functions concerning services in the Erongo Region, and I am proud to commend your achievements. We are currently leading in service delivery at 75%, and with the remaining 25%, we will reach 100% on our service delivery chart.”
However, alongside these achievements, the governor acknowledged challenges.
These include communication breakdowns within leadership structures, delays in responding to community concerns, and the absence of key economic players from regional engagements.
“We often observe their presence in Windhoek, particularly representatives from the mining industry. Not long ago, I saw them in Cape Town, and more recently, again in Windhoek-without our participation. Yet, when we invite them to regional discussions, I am left wondering why they decline to attend,” |Goagoses questioned.
Financial accountability was also raised as an area requiring urgent attention.
The governor called for improved oversight, performance agreements for senior officials, and a return to clean audit outcomes.
“There shall be financial prudence starting the financial year 2026/2027 and beyond. All the financial reports that are outstanding should be brought up to date".
|Goagoses urged stakeholders to strengthen unity, improve governance systems, and embrace innovation to accelerate development in the next financial year and beyond.
