Botswana President Duma Boko and Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema jointly officiated the launch of the Kazungula Bridge Authority yesterday.
The establishment of the Authority aims to foster regional cooperation and ensure sustainable management of the bridge.
The two leaders said the Authority amplifies opportunities offered by the African Continental Free Trade Area by boosting intra-African trade.
President Boko highlighted that Africa's infrastructure, currently geared toward exporting raw materials, must change, stating it is time for the continent to process its minerals.

President Boko added that the two countries have agreed that the Kazungula border will soon operate on a 24-hour basis.
President Hichilema emphasised the importance of maintaining the bridge as an economic investment, with ongoing improvement programmes.
Botswana's Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Noah Salakae, said the border has become a preferred route, serving over 400 trucks daily.
He added that the bridge serves as a benchmark for the region and continent.
Zambian Minister of Infrastructure Charles Milupi said the two governments intend to create a non-stop border post at Kazungula.
