The Deputy Minister of Industries, Mines, and Energy, Gaudentia Kröhne, has inaugurated a fully fledged computer lab at the Minna Sachs Primary School in Keetmanshoop.

The school received 20 computers and printers valued at more than N$350,000 from the Swakop Uranium Foundation.

On the occasion, Kröhne called on mining companies and fishing quota holders in the ||Kharas Region to increase investment in education, healthcare and vulnerable communities.

"I am also pleading for the fishing quota holdings in ||Kharas Region; corporate social responsibility is very important. The school needs you, the churches need you, and the kindergartens need you. We have so many vulnerable people, and the poverty is real in our region, and it's all over the country, so the Minister of Fisheries, Inge Zaamwami, must call for the fishing quota holdings to make sure that schools will be assisted, and hospitals must be assisted."

The Chairperson of the Swakop Uranium Foundation, Percy McCullum, highlighted the low representation of southern youth in the industry and urged learners to take advantage of opportunities in the mining sector.
