President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah honoured the late James Uerikua during the Central Committee meeting. 

Uerikua, who died in a car accident together with his son Venturo on 3rd April, was a member of the Central Committee.

The seat where Uerikua once sat was adorned with flowers in his honour, as members of the party's highest decision-making body observed a moment of silence.

"Comrade James Uerikua was a member of the Central Committee, a body he served with respect and commitment. To honour Comrade Uerikua, we must uphold the dignity of this body to serve our members in order to ensure the strength of our party now and in the future. May the souls of Comrade Uerikua and his son Venturo rest in eternal peace."
