The Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr. Esperance Luvindao, inaugurated a renal dialysis unit at Katima Mulilo State Hospital today.

The unit was established by repurposing one of the hospital wards at a total investment of over N$1.7 million.

It comes at a time when Zambezi Region residents living with kidney diseases have been compelled to seek such services from expensive private healthcare facilities or distant referrals to Windhoek.

Dr. Luvindao said the facility is fully equipped and staffed to ensure patients receive quality renal care regardless of where they come from.

She added that the ministry acknowledges the hospital's overcrowding issues.

Zambezi Governor Dorothy Kabula raised concerns about the need to upgrade the intermediate hospital, noting the region's growing population demands expansion.
