The board chairperson of the Student Union of Namibia, Bernard Kavau, urged youth to engage with elders, libraries, and memorial sites to preserve genocide history.

Speaking during a Genocide Remembrance Day interview, Kavau called for a Namibia-/Africa-centered curriculum, warning that without it, young Namibians will lose their history, culture, and identity.

Kavau also said remembrance builds unity, showing freedom came through collective struggle against colonial rule.

On reparations with Germany, he acknowledged progress but warned against rushing, demanding fair, just outcomes for affected communities.
