President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has paid tribute to Cuba's former president, Raul Castro, who celebrates his 95th birthday on June 3rd, describing it as an important milestone.
Dr Nandi-Ndaitwah hailed Castro's lifelong commitment to the advancement of the ideals of freedom, justice, solidarity and self-determination as well as to the Cuban revolution.
A statement issued by the presidency said Nandi-Ndaitwah lauded the resilience of the Cuban nationals in the face of the ongoing challenges.
These challenges are further exacerbated by the U.S. energy blockade on the island nation in addition to the more than 60 years of old economic embargo.
Dr Nandi-Ndaitwah said Cuba's commitment to sovereignty and enduring spirit continue to inspire nations worldwide.
The presidency said she also acknowledged Cuba's historic support for Namibia's liberation struggle and reaffirmed the deep bonds of friendship and solidarity that continue to unite the peoples and governments of Namibia and Cuba.
