The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) and MultiChoice Namibia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their partnership to enhance broadcasting services in the country.
The commitment was reiterated during a visit by MultiChoice Namibia to the NBC's Director General, Menesia Muinjo.
The two entities have collaborated in various areas, which include the airing of NBC channels on Multichoice platforms, making it accessible to all, and collaboration in projects such as the Mukorob Film Project and national events.
General Manager of MultiChoice Namibia, Roger Gertze, said, "The technology that we had within MultiChoice, it was always nice for us to extend the end to make sure that the content that you produce is made accessible to all of Namibia, and therefore, with our DStv infrastructure, it was always possible for us to carry the NBC channels to TV stations as well as the 11 radio stations, and we intend to continue that relationship from our end. Second to that, we have been doing a number of projects in the past successfully, and we would love to see what it is that we can do together to the benefit of the Ramadins out there."
The NBC's Director-General Menesia Muinjo, emphasised the importance of digitalisation and the need for collaboration to build the necessary infrastructure to reach the youth audience.
"We have been focusing more on traditional media, and they remain relevant: television and radio. But digital platforms have now become so critical. Yes, we are aware that other world players will enable us to effectively relieve our audience, and especially the young ones, the youth audience on those platforms, based on the population statistics of 71.1%. So to get the relevant infrastructure, we have to see how we can collaborate on that and also the infrastructure to keep away those that may harm our business. Like they say, cyber security – how do we move together and skill our people?
