Police in the ||Kharas Region have honoured retiring police officers, who dedicated more than 25 years of their lives to serving and protecting communities, with a farewell parade.
The farewell parade ceremony was held in Keetmanshoop.
The farewell celebration began with a march through the streets of Keetmanshoop, paying tribute to the retirees for their years of dedicated service and contribution to public safety.
The retirees are Chief Inspector David Ndove, Chief Inspector Theresia Basson, Warrant Officer Jean Roos, Warrant Officer Penehafo Joseph and Senior Inspector Tuyeimo Ndakolo.
Long-serving officers, as well as retirees, were also decorated with medals in recognition of their dedicated and loyal services, with careers spanning over ten, twenty, and thirty years.
Acting Regional Commander of ||Kharas Police Nicodemus Mbango said, "Throughout their careers, they have worked long hours, faced challenges, celebrated successes, and carried responsibilities that many people may never fully understand. They stood ready when called upon, often sacrificing time with family to fulfil their duties. Today, we acknowledge those sacrifices."
Deputy Commissioner Mbango also expressed appreciation to the family of the retiring officers for their unwavering support throughout the years of service.
"Behind every successful police officer is a family that has provided support, understanding, encouragement, and strength. Your contribution to the careers of these retirees should not go unnoticed."
The senior cop further reminded them that an officer's legacy is not only measured by rank or years of service but also by the integrity, professionalism, and dedication with which they perform their duties.
