The NamPort Social Investment Fund has funded the construction of an administration block at Muketela Primary School in the Sibbinda Constituency at a cost of N$1.1 million.

The fund has been in existence for 19 years and has allocated more than N$100 million to projects across all 14 regions.

Of that amount, more than N$58 million has been invested directly in communities.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, NamPort Social Investment Fund Trustee Alushe Hitula said the fund remains committed to ensuring that resources reach the communities that need them most.

"For over 40 years, your school has functioned without a dedicated administrative block. Your principal, Mrs Puteho, has led this school from a storeroom that served as a single office and a library and served everything in one, however, she did not complain. She did not give up. She picked up her pen, wrote to NamPort and fought for you."

Deputy Director of Education for Zambezi Region, Norah Munembo, said the funding demonstrates the value of collaboration between government and development partners in improving education infrastructure.

"The government continues to invest in educational infrastructure, investing in quality learning opportunities, however, the support of strategic partners such as NamPort remains invaluable."

In a speech delivered on her behalf, Zambezi Governor Dorothy Kabula emphasised the importance of protecting the new infrastructure.

"Vandalism and misuse of the property rob our children of the opportunity and undermine development efforts. I therefore call upon learners, teachers, parents and the wider community to safeguard this facility."
