Omaruru Councillor Magano Gerbhardt has stated that social and economic development projects, including housing, education, and training for youth in farming activities, are beginning to take shape within the constituency.

Gerbhardt said in an interview that she highlighted the success of electricity and water connections to households.

Since taking office, the project has trained 24 unemployed youths to benefit from funding for equipment to start businesses.

To supplement this success, an aquaculture community garden measuring four hectares will soon be set up for youths.

"These young people who have received the equipment, such as those working in tyre repair, now have the opportunity to employ others and grow their businesses. We have undertaken a feasibility study and visited various areas, including Erongo, Rundu, Kavango East, Kavango West, and Oshana, to identify best practices from individuals who have been in the industry for some time, particularly in aquaculture and community gardening, which we aim to implement within our constituency."

On the housing sector, Gerbhardt said the majority of households now have access to municipal services, including those in the informal settlements and low-cost houses.

"Currently, we have an extension that has been developed, and at the same time, this extension is receiving water services. Additionally, electrical services have recently been completed, with almost 95% of the work done through Erongo RED. There is significant progress in terms of development taking place within the constituency."

Other developments in the pipeline are the establishment of a technical vocational school at Omaruru and the near completion of the single quarters market currently underway.

Two primary schools have also benefited from the construction of classroom blocks to help address overcrowding.
