The Directorate of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) held a consultative meeting with the management of the College of the Arts (COTA) to discuss the institution's operations and strengthen preparations for its transition into the Directorate under the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture.

Discussions focused on programme accreditation with the Namibia Qualifications Authority and the Namibia Training Authority, as well as the implementation of subsidised tertiary education.

The two teams also reviewed the Directorate's annual operational plan and explored ways to align COTA's academic programmes with national priorities, particularly in advancing quality technical and vocational training within Namibia's creative industries.

Other key issues included financial and accounting matters, the institution's organisational structure, ongoing programmes, and current operational challenges.

The Director of TVET, Dalia Mwiya, shared the Directorate's vision for strengthening the sector, highlighting opportunities to further integrate and enhance arts education into the broader framework.
