A 29-year-old man was denied bail in the Rundu Magistrate's Court on Monday. 

Anton Babinu Zola was arrested in connection with alleged serial rape incidents in Rundu, Kavango East Region.

Zola appeared on charges of rape, housebreaking with intent to steal and theft, assault by threat, and indecent assault. 

Magistrate Sonia Sampofu denied the suspect bail, saying the accused has numerous pending matters before the court and that it will not be in the interest of justice nor of the public for the accused to be released on bail. 

The matter was postponed to 3 September, 2026. Police are not yet certain whether Zola was responsible for all nine rape cases, as investigations are ongoing.
