The government's Mass Housing Project has delivered 24 new homes to residents in Opuwo. 

The Urban and Rural Development Minister, James Sankwasa, officiated the handover ceremony recently aimed at providing decent shelter to the local community.

Minister Sankwasa expressed satisfaction at the completion of the project in a short term after he visited the project last year. 

He emphasised that decent shelter is an essential need that improves livelihoods, public health, and social services for all citizens.

Sankwasa called on contractors to ensure they deliver quality structures when they get public housing project tenders.

The minister urged the National Housing Enterprise (NHE) to strictly monitor them to ensure only serious and capable ones are awarded government tenders.

He further called on the Kunene Regional Council to avail land for low-income residents to curb the lack of housing in the country
