Community members of the Okongo Constituency in the Ohangwena Region have demanded that stock-theft accused Leonard Kanguloshi be remanded in custody until his case is finalised.
Kanguloshi is accused of stealing livestock and has repeatedly been released on bail.
Residents representing 20 households from surrounding villages handed over a petition to Okongo Magistrats' Court's Senior Prosecutor Paulus Shuudeni.
The community members accused Kanguloshi of stealing cattle, goats and chickens.
The community alleged that more than 81 cattle have been stolen since 2024 to date.
They further claimed that Kanguloshi is part of a syndicate involved in removing ear tags from cattle before selling or slaughtering some of the animals in the Oshikoto Region.
“We, as farmers and property owners, are sick and tired of this person in our village and community at large. We are therefore demanding that the court do us a favour and keep this person behind bars until our pending cases are heard and finalised,” added Olivia Ngifikwa.
Okongo Magistrate's Court, Senior Prosecutor, said he would forward the community's concerns to the relevant authorities.
Kanguloshi appeared in court this morning, and his case has been postponed to the 5th of November.
His bail has also been extended.
