The strengthening of Namibia-China relations and the implementation of agreements reached during President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah's state visit to China in July were among the issues discussed during a courtesy meeting at State House.

China's Ambassador to Namibia, Zhao Weiping, briefed President Nandi-Ndaitwah on progress made since her visit and outlined areas of cooperation between the two countries going forward.

The discussion focused on the importance of implementing the consensus reached between President Nandi-Ndaitwah and China's President Xi Jinping.

The visit focused on deepening bilateral relations and advancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest and translating agreements into practical programmes.

Weiping also updated the President on progress made so far, including the Namibia-China Police Housing Programme.

China has made about N$750 million available to support their housing needs.

"Of course, the cooperation will be further strengthened in extensive areas, as you may have already noticed from the joint statement issued by our two governments during the President's visit to China. So, this cooperation is very comprehensive and covers all areas. And the police housing project, we have been working on that for some time, and I'm sure we are going to start the construction of the police housing very soon."

The engagement maintained momentum in the two countries' relations and ensured that agreements reached at the leadership level result in tangible outcomes.
