Thirty-five youth from the Uukwiyu Uushona Constituency in the Oshana Region are attending a five-day youth training programme to equip them with vital skills on social development, mental health, gender-based violence awareness, agro-processing, entrepreneurship and economic development.

The training is being conducted by the Oshana Youth Directorate.

Regional Youth Officer at the Oshakati Multi-Purpose Youth Resource Centre Diina Shikufa says the training targets youths across the Oshana Region.

“From here, we will have the other one at Ompundja. We will cover all 11 constituencies in the region. We do not want them to come and be based in Oshakati; instead, we will bring the services to them.”

One of the participants, Helena Muthila, expressed gratitude towards the training initiative.

“I am feeling good because opportunities like this are scarce, especially for unemployed youth. I feel good because the information given to us is vital. Things are not as tough as they appear; it is just the lack of information. I feel really good.”
