President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah held bilateral talks with UN Secretary-General António Guterres at the UN headquarters in New York as the 81st General Assembly debate gets underway.

The President will deliver Namibia's national statement on Wednesday, outlining the country's development priorities and commitment to multilateralism.

The session is held under the theme "Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations that Delivers for All".

President Nandi-Ndaitwah previously described the theme as timely, as world leaders seek solutions to global challenges guided by the principles of the UN Charter.
