Minister of Justice and Labour Relations Wise Immanuel acknowledged that there are delays in the finalisation of estates at the master's office.

This follows a concern raised by Swapo Party MP, Sharonice Busch, regarding a continuous backlog in the finalisation of estates at the master's office.

"The master's office does not have oversight over independent estate agents in finalising the estates of our deceased. And the public have a growing concern around how long it takes; the process is tedious, and it is cumbersome. So I want to know from the Honourable Minister what is being done. Is the minister attending to what is happening at the master's office?"

The minister stated that the matter was discussed in their executive meeting earlier this month, with the ministry having embarked on business re-engineering with the aim to improve the turnaround time.

"I have requested a comprehensive presentation on looking at how we can do the process mapping and business re-engineering of that specific office. And I think in the fullness of time, once we have then identified as to where the bottlenecks are, insofar as the business and the efficiency of the office are concerned, we will be glad actually to come forward and brief this August house in terms of the reforms that we have undertaken."
