Okahandja murder suspect, Karinambande Muundjua, who is accused of killing Ingrid Maasdorp and Roswinds Fabianu, has appeared in the Okahandja Magistrates' Court today.
The case of Muundjua, who is facing multiple charges, was postponed to the 2nd of March next year.
The murder of seven-year-old Fabianu and five-year-old Maasdorp occurred just weeks apart in March and April of 2025.
Their horrific murders left not only the immediate community of Okahandja in a state of grief and fear but also the entire nation.
Their voices, including those of learners, echoed in the streets of Okahandja and demanded justice.
Investigations and arrest of a suspect seemed to have dragged on.
However, after 17 months of waiting, the Police Acting Inspector General, Anne-Marie Nainda, announced a breakthrough, which implicated an 18-year-old Muundjua.
“We have obtained forensic evidence and even potential evidence. So, we are certain of what we are talking about. There is no doubt that this person is linked to the two cases we are referring to. We will not provide any additional information in that regard for obvious reasons.”
Muundjua was arrested on Saturday for a different case.
This comes after security guards at Nau-Aib allegedly caught him attempting to rape an eight-year-old girl at knifepoint.
For this arrest, he faces a charge of attempted rape and appeared in the Okahandja Magistrates' Court on Monday.
He is expected to remain in custody until the 18th of February next year for the case.
NBC News has learned that Muundjua was a learner at the same school attended by Maasdorp.
The court records during his court appearance show Muundjua apologised for what he had done.
Meanwhile, Major General Nainda said that investigations into the murder of 15-year-old Beyoncé !Kharuxas, who was found dead at the Five Rand location in Okahandja on 25 April 2025, are ongoing.
