The Indian Navy ship, INS Tarkash, is visiting the port of Walvis Bay with the purpose of further strengthening maritime cooperation between India and Namibia.

This was highlighted by Captain Abraham Samuel during a media briefing.

The Indian navy, as part of its mission-based deployment theory, deploys ships to various maritime industries to ensure that the nation's resources are protected.

Captain Abraham Samuel says as part of the long-reach overseas deployment, the purpose of these engagements is to enhance cooperation between the two forces.

In addition, social engagements, ship exchange visits, sporting events, and the sharing of best practices are carried out.

Samuel says the visit is to further cement the bond of friendship between the two countries, who also share trade and close military relations.

The INS Tarkash left India on 27 June and travelled through the Gulf of Aden and the Mediterranean Sea.

The navy vessel arrived at Namibia's coast for a three-day visit as part of its overseas deployment to Africa, Europe, and Russia.
